This year, our course offerings are tiered where students in grades 8-10 are recommended to apply for our Intro to Creative Writing (Multi-genre) classes titled “I Contain Multitudes.” There are both on-campus and remote options for this introductory course.
The EmersonWRITES Fall 2026 on campus classes will run on Wednesday evenings from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., starting Wednesday September 30 with dinner provided.
The EmersonWRITES Fall 2026 Online Intro to Creative Writing classes will run on Tuesdays, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (EST) starting September 29. The Online Advanced Pop. Fiction Course “Our Fantastical Homeplace” will run on Mondays from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (EST) starting September 28, 2026.
All of our courses focus on the creative writing process, from free writing to drafting, workshop, and revision, with the goal of publishing a singular piece of original creative writing for our annual anthology, SPINE.
An on-campus Orientation will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This is mandatory for in-person students and optional for remote-only students. More information will be provided in advance to accepted students and families over email.
A hybrid Showcase Rehearsal will take place on Wednesday, January 13, 2027 for both online and in-person engagement. Our celebratory showcase will take place on Saturday, January 16, 2027.
Additional opportunities for field trips, college-access information sessions, and arts workshops are TBD and will be communicated over email to accepted students and families in advance during the Fall 2026 program run.
Please note: that due to classroom capacity limits, students may be offered a waitlist placement or may be encouraged to apply next year if they are not accepted into our 2026 program year. With that said, please only apply if you are certain you can commit to the class schedule and take part in the Showcase.
